The AmeriChoice Federal Credit Union has been a staple in the lives of many Central Pennsylvania residents for over 30 years. AmeriChoice needed a website that would be a part of its members' lives, while offering them the conveniences of a modern site. The site crafted by Quantum Dynamix allowed the staff of AmeriChoice the ability to communicate directly to their membership. To speak to separate market segments, microsites were created; each specifically designed to meet a unique challenge. The design was simple, clean, and professional, with the site architecture laid out in a logical manner to help users navigate with ease.
For the backend, a custom content management system (CMS) was created to allow the staff the ability to control most of the site's content. Through this robust CMS, the staff has the ability to add new products, news, events, and promotions to the website. Updates made in the CMS are instantly viewable on the website, allowing AmeriChoice a way to directly communicate to their members quickly and efficiently.
The new AmeriChoice website was launched in May 2009. Early indications from the AmeriChoice membership have been positive. The CMS has also allowed AmeriChoice to update the website more frequently. In the months since launching the site, AmeriChoice has been able to save thousands in maintenance costs. In two years, these savings will help pay for the website.
The Pennsylvania Water/Wastewater Agency Response Network (PaWARN) website is a complex system that allows water utilities the ability to communicate and offer assistance to other utilities in need during an emergency. To assist the PaWARN membership, Quantum Dynamix developed six online tutorials to assist members on how to utilize the website and better understand its abilities.
The key message for this project was to reinforce that the PaWARN website is simple, easy, and quick to use. To fulfill the needs of the membership, it was determined that an online video was the best communication tool. Research showed that online tutorials offered the widest variety of learning methods. Auditory learners were assisted by the narrator; visual learners were assisted by the corresponding video. The script written eliminated difficult jargon to make the technology more approachable for the novice computer user. Closed caption was provided for those with disabilities.
The results for the PaWARN tutorials have been extremely impressive. Since the tutorials have been created, membership to PaWARN has increased substantially. Based on June 2009 statistics, six months since the launch of the tutorials, nearly 50% of Pennsylvania’s 12 million citizens are now protected by PaWARN member water and wastewater utilities.
